Journal of Azzaytuna University (JAZU): Overview

Distinguished researchers and scholars, It is our distinct pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the Journal of Azzaytuna University (JAZU) - a peer-reviewed scholarly forum committed to the advancement of academic inquiry, the dissemination of original research, and the promotion of a culture of methodological rigor and interdisciplinary intellectual exchange across generations. We are pleased to welcome you as readers, authors, and reviewers and we deeply value your trust in the journal and your continued engagement with its scholarly mission. Your participation represents the true driving force behind the journal's continuity and advancement, and it is precisely this trust that inspires us to constantly elevate our editorial and peer-review standards and uphold the core values of knowledge and academic integrity. The journal was established on 14 April 2006 pursuant to Resolution No. (06) of 2006, issued by the Director General of the General Administration of Publications, in response to an official letter from the Secretary of the People’s Committee of the former Nasser International University, dated 25 January 2006, calling for the launch of a biannual, peer-reviewed academic journal under the title Journal of Nasser International University. The first issue was published during the 2006–2007 academic year and was disseminated to several national and regional university libraries, most notably the University of Jordan Library, which formally expressed its interest in a reciprocal exchange agreement with the journal Dirasat: Human Sciences, published by the Deanship of Scientific Research at the University of Jordan.

As part of its institutional development, the journal witnessed a significant milestone with the publication of its fifth issue, coinciding with Cabinet Resolution No. (168) of 2012, issued on 9 April 2012, which officially renamed the university to Azzaytuna University. Consequently, the journal's title was changed to the Journal of Azzaytuna University, maintaining its character as a refereed academic journal, with a transition to a quarterly publication schedule. The journal is dedicated to publishing original scholarly research across multiple disciplines, with particular emphasis on medical sciences, applied engineering, and the humanities and social sciences. It accepts manuscripts in both Arabic and English and adheres to international peer-review standards, implementing the double-blind review system under the supervision of a scientific editorial and advisory board composed of distinguished academics and subject-matter experts at the national and international levels. In alignment with its firm commitment to research ethics and academic integrity, Azzaytuna University established a Scientific Plagiarism Check Committee by virtue of Presidential Decree No. (16) of 2024, dated 24 January 2024. This committee is responsible for conducting preliminary plagiarism screenings of all submitted manuscripts to verify originality and ensure the absence of plagiarism or unjustified duplication. This initiative stands as a pioneering model among Libyan academic journals and reflects the journal's dedication to quality assurance and scientific transparency. To date, the journal has published 58 issues, over the span of nearly two decades- a testament to its continuity, academic rigor, and its unwavering support of scientific research and service to the academic community within a framework of excellence and professionalism.

In conclusion, we at the JAZU believe that academic publishing is not merely a tool for disseminating individual efforts, but rather a profound intellectual mission that contributes to building a knowledge-based society and nurturing a culture of constructive academic discourse. We look forward to continuing this journey in collaboration with you -our esteemed scholars and partners- toward broader horizons of scholarly impact and advancement.
